Manchester United Target : Lewandowski

The Manchester United boss has been keeping close tabs on the Borussia Dortmund hitman and had him watched several times this season.

Fergie is hoping to use Dimitar Berbatov as a makeweight in a potential £14m deal to lure Lewandowski to Old Trafford. Fergie is desperate to sign Lewandowski before the 23-year-old goes to Euro 2012 with the Poland squad.

The United boss knows he could miss out if he impresses in Poland and Ukraine and his value soars.

Lewandowski helped Dortmund land the Bundesliga title this season and struck an impressive hat-trick in front of a watching Fergie to sink Bayern Munich in the German Cup Final.

Meanwhile, Berbatov has taken a parting shot at Fergie ahead of his expected exit from Old Trafford.

Berbatov, who remains United’s record £30.7m signing, insists the Scot froze him out and made promises he couldn’t keep.

The Bulgarian said: “We talked 10 times, he told me there would be a place for me but I stayed on the bench.

“My time at Manchester United is running out. I no longer feel like a valuable part of this team.

“I think I did well in the few opportunities I had.

“I’m frustrated by the way this has happened and don’t think I deserved it.

“But I have dignity and I stopped going to such meetings now it is clear that I’m leaving.”

With Fergie having to move quickly to land Lewandowski, it remains to be seen if Berbatov is willing to help by becoming part of the deal.

Galatasaray and Lazio are monitoring the situation.

Manchester United Linked With Kevin-Prince Boateng

Manchester United have expressed interest in signing Kevin-Prince Boateng, according to reports in Italy.
Manager Alex Ferguson wants to turn to the AC Milan ace who has impressed in Serie A since leaving Tottenham two years ago.
Milan officials are deciding whether to offer Boateng a new deal or cash in to fund a bid for Santos’s promising Brazil playmaker Paulo Henrique Ganso.
Boateng despite battling injuries this term scored nine goals in 27 appearances.
Concerns about his physical fragility, which restricted him to just half of Milan’s games is a problem but he is relatively lowly paid.
The 25-year-old pockets £ 30,000-a-week after tax and would hope to land double if he extends his contract by one year to 2016.
Manchester United are pushing hard to sign Borussia Dortmund star Shinji Kagawa and Eden Hazard of Lille.

Galatasaray prepare offer for Manchester United man Park

Premier League giants are willing to listen to offers for South Korean midfielder, who has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford after being dogged by injuries

The Turkish club have made United aware of their interest in the South Korean midfielder, who has become surplus to requirements at Old Trafford.

The Premier League giants are prepared to off-load Park this summer in order to make space on their wage bill for fresh blood, with Borussia Dortmund’s Shinji Kagawa among their leading targets.

The midfielder, 31, spent most of the season on the fringes of the United squad, starting just 10 of the team’s 38 league matches.

Given his age and the fact he has only a year remaining on his contract, United value the player at around the £3 million mark.

However, Galatasaray, who are looking to consolidate after winning their first league title in four years, have been made aware that Park’s current package is worth £65,000-a-week.

Speaking in Thailand this week, the Korean explained that talks with the Turkish club are yet to reach a formal stage.

“I haven't received an official offer," He said. "It is always a good thing for a player to be wanted by a team, though.

"I know I can't stay in the team just because I want to, but I still harbour hopes of retiring with Manchester United."

Park has made 205 appearances for United since joining them in 2005 from PSV Eindhoven.

Manchester United deny Malcolm Glazer 'death' after 'massive stroke' rumours spark internet storm

Manchester United have announced that rumours circulating on the internet relating to the health of owner Malcolm Glazer are false after the supposed 'death' of the American sparked an internet storm on Thursday.

Malcolm Glazer, pictured in 2005, gradually bought out Manchester United shareholders in a deal that valued the club at around $1.47 billion (£900 million)
The American businessman turns 85 on Friday, but a malicious rumour, started on Twitter, led to a story being widely reported that he passed away after "a massive stroke".
Glazer bought out Man United shareholders gradually between 2003 and 2005 in a deal that valued the club at around $1.47 billion (£900 million), but he has not been a particularly popular figure among supporters ever since, having lodged a huge amount of debt next to the club.

England should have picked Rio Ferdinand for Euro 2012 - Cristiano Ronaldo

The Portugal forward was amazed by his former teammates' exclusion from the Three Lions squad, adding that the Manchester United defender is Hodgson's best centre-back

Cristiano Ronaldo has expressed his disbelief at Rio Ferdinand’s exclusion from the Englandsquad for Euro 2012, praising the defender as “one of the best”.
Leading up to Roy Hodgson’s announcement of his squad debate focused on whether either of John Terry or Ferdinand would make the cut due the Chelsea captain facing charges of allegedly racially abusing Anton Ferdinand, the younger brother of the Manchester United star.
Hodgson opted to pick Terry and drop Ferdinand for the upcoming tournament, a decision that has been met with mixed views, but Ronaldo is disappointed for his former United team-mate, and struggled to comprehend the new England manager's decision.
Speaking at a Castrol event Goal.com attended, the Real Madrid man said: “It surprised me a lot. I don’t understand why [Ferdinand was left out].
“He is still one of the best center-backs in the world. I have to be honest, Rio is a great player, a great man, he should be there.
“He could help to make a good team for the tournament. But it’s the decision of the coach, and we have to respect it.
“I haven’t called him yet, but I will do.”
Although Ronaldo is adamant Ferdinand should be playing for England this summer, he does not feel Terry should have missed out either, adding that he believes the Chelsea captain is a great player, but the Portuguese superstar is under no illusions as to which one is better.
You can’t compare them [Ferdinand and Terry]. Terry is a fantastic player too, and both should be at national team.
“Rio especially, because Rio is England’s best centre-back for me.”

Since March, Goal.com has been publishing exclusive extracts from Luca Caioli's new book, Ronaldo: The Obsession for Perfection. This Friday's excerpt looks at how Cristiano's goal saw Real Madrid beat Barcelona in last season Copa del Rey final. Don't miss it!

Manchester United lodge €17m bid for Kagawa

The Red Devils have been strongly linked with the Borussia Dortmund star in recent weeks, with Sir Alex Ferguson keen to revamp his midfield ahead of next season

Manchester United have made their first move to sign Shinji Kagawa, by lodging a €17 million (£13.6m) bid for the Borussia Dortmund star.
The Premier League giants have been pressed into action after being made aware last week of growing interest in the attacking midfielder from Arsenal.

Reports emerged in Germany on Thursday that United had made a move for Kagawa and sources have confirmed to Goal.com that the club have made a formal bid for the Japan international.

United are believed to be hopeful of wrapping up a quick deal but it is understood that Arsenal's interest remains strong and the Londoners could also submit an offer for a key figure in Dortmund's back-to-back league titles.

Kagawa has only a year remaining on his contract and the Bundesliga club have hinted recently that they will not stand in the way of a transfer this summer.

Speaking last week, Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc said: "I had a meeting with his agent and Shinji Kagawa has informed us that he will definitely not be extending his contract. Should we now receive offers for Kagawa, then we will consider and negotiate them."

Goal.com exclusively revealed in April that United were lining up a bid to sign Kagawa, whose reputation has grown over the last few months.

Manager Sir Alex Ferguson and his assistant Mike Phelan were then present at the DFB-Pokal final two weekends ago when Kagawa scored in Dortmund's emphatic 5-2 win over Bayern Munich.

Arsene Wenger is also an admirer of the Japanese midfielder, who arrived in Germany after the 2010 World Cup for a fee well below €350,000 and has been an influential presence in Jurgen Klopp's team.

He has scored 10 times in 30 international appearances, and his 71 appearances for Dortmund have yielded 29 goals, including the opener in the cup final, before setting up hat-trick hero Robert Lewandowski's first of the game.

Hazard tells Manchester United, City and Chelsea: I will not accept a bit-part role

The Belgium international says he still hasn't chosen where he will be playing next season but admitted he expects to be a first-choice at whatever club he ends up at

Lille forward Eden Hazard has stated that his move to the Premier League will be based around how much playing time he will be offered.

The 21-year-old confirmed that he has a decision to make between Manchester City, Manchester United or Chelsea.
Chelsea. Not everyone can say that they have a choice between three top clubs."

His words will encourage Chelsea and Manchester United, who are both looking to rebuild this summer, while Manchester City are looking to add to their current squad and the Belgian would find it harder to hold down a place in the starting XI at Eastlands.

Chelsea are releasing the likes of Didier Drogba and Salomon Kalou, while Manchester United have confirmed that both Dimitar Berbatov and Michael Owen are to leave the club this summer, and both clubs are likely to be able to offer Hazard a regular starting berth.

The playmaker, who has just been handed the number 10 shirt for Belgium's friendly against England on June 2, also hinted that he wanted to play in his preferred position at his potential new club but was unsure of when he would reach the decision.

Hazard added: "I'm happy that I'm playing for the Red Devils [Belgium] in my best position, as a true No.10.

"I do not know when I'll make a decision about my future club."
